I'm not sure at all yet - i've never really got in to Battlefield but BF3 looks appealing so i've preordered it.

I've always liked playing quite Lone Wolf style or scouting out positions for my team so the Recon class appeals - I imagine i'll try them all before deciding though!

Hmm, I'm just worried this will make reviving alot more common and therefore speed up the pace too leading it to be more like CoD4. Now your going to get those amazingly annoying assault players (who get tons of kills) but their also going to be defibbing their team mates left and right and I reckon its going to get near impossible to take them out. Assault is by far the most common class so if you go combine it with Medic then 85% of the players are gonna be running around with defibs. It just kills the role for me.

I agree the medic loadout needed to be sorted out but not have it combined with the class with the most powerful weapons. I think it was done perfectly in Battlefield 2. They screwed it up in Bad Company by giving the medic some of the most powerful guns in the game. It also kills the role when setting up squads. Before in Battlefield 2 you always made sure someone was medic but now thats pretty much dead seeing as assault does that job. I just think it kills the uniqueness of the role by combining it with the most popular class. :/

Never take life seriously, nobody gets out alive anyway.

Hehe, when you get shot by a sniper I'll be there to revive you, don't worry.

Hmm... I see what you mean. Did you play BF2142? I think you did. It used pretty much the same class setup as BF3 and I remember I thought it worked pretty well back then. Actually, in 2142 Assault was not even such an overused class. Sure, many people played it but the other roles were also played a LOT, and I never noticed an overkill of medic players there. Maybe that was because the other classes also had some very attractive equipment (the LMGs in 2142 were great, the Engineer's Pilum was an awesome AT that could also be used as anti-personnel and the sniper... well, speaks for itself, but it also had the Lambert carbine which kicked ass, as well as the stealth thing), balancing the whole thing out a bit.

I'm hoping the class balance will be pretty much the same as it was in 2142, because I never noticed any one class being overplayed in that game, and neither were you assailed by armies of constantly reviving medics.

However I do agree with you that it might have been better for the Medic to be its seperate class. On the other hand, I remember that when I got into BF2, I thought that there were quite a lot of classes, and as a result I never really got to play some of them, which is a shame. I think that's why they tried to condense it all into 4 classes, and if they stick with just the four of them, then this setup is likely the best they could have come up with.

The way I see it: if Assault didn't have medic abilities then the whole class would be under-used. From what I have seen all of the other classes are pretty well fitted with their multitude weapons and killing capabilities (normally Assault's primary strong suit). If you want to have medic perks, then you're back in line with the rest of the pack in terms of killing, and if you want to be ahead of them in that regard: you lose out on the medic side.
    Do it! Just touch it.

    Engineer, here.
I am darkness, I am sin
The Prince of lust invited in
Reborn at last to cast my
    Phallic shadow on this world,
    You shall worship me, enslaved
For many lovers shall I crave
And in return, I'll gladly pave
    Your psycho path with pearls

I'm actually also quite interested in playing the Support kit now. I think I will mainly switch between Assault and Support, since both would be right up my alley: Assault goes around and revives/heals people, Support lays down suppressing fire and rearms people. Perfect. Still not interested in Engineer though.

I am really looking forward to playing as Recon since they did change it up a bit. From what I can tell it will really show who is actually good at sniping. I am however going to play as the assault/medic since my friend is the run in and be a hero while I have to save his butt and be his common sense.

The recon is a bit lame atm because of their ridiculous lens flare. Its way too bright and makes them shining targets its really easy to spot them and suppress them.

@von I think you will like the support because with the bipod and PRONE you actually can do really good supression.
